How to play

Goal: the active team scores by landing the needle on a hidden target zone. First to 10 wins.

1 · Clue. The active team taps Peek to see the target, then says one clue that falls between the two poles — and covers it back up.

2 · Guess. Everyone else drags the needle to where they think the clue sits, then locks it in.

3 · Bet. The other team bets whether the true target is toward the left or right pole of the needle — a correct bet earns them a catch-up point.

Score: bullseye 4, next ring 3, outer ring 2, miss 0.

The game

What is Wavelength Online?

Wavelength Online — a tuning dial with a needle pointing at a hidden target between two opposite ideas.
Wavelength Online — read the room and tune the dial to the hidden target.

Wavelength Online is a free, browser-based version of the social guessing game where two teams try to read each other's minds. Every round hides a target somewhere on a spectrum between two opposite ideas — Cold ↔ Hot, Overrated ↔ Underrated, Fantasy ↔ Sci-fi — and one player gives a single clue to steer their team toward it.

You can play Wavelength Online right here on this page. There is nothing to install, no account, and no sign-up. The whole game runs on one phone, tablet, or laptop that you pass around the group, which makes this online party game a quick pick for house parties, road trips, classrooms, team ice-breakers, and the table at a bar. It shines with four or more people split into two teams, though a smaller group still works.

The deck

181 spectrum pairs, sorted into 7 themes

Every round draws from a hand-picked deck of 181 opposite pairs. By default a card can come from anywhere in the deck, but the 🏷️ tag button next to the sound icon opens a picker that narrows the pool to just the themes your group wants — draws stay fully random, you're just choosing which shelf they're pulled from. Your selection is remembered for next time.

Turn order

How to play, in a nutshell

Each round, the active team peeks at a hidden target on the dial and gives one clue that lands between the two poles. Everyone else drags the pointer to where they think that clue belongs and locks it in, and then the other team bets whether the true target is to the left or the right. The closer the guess, the more points — a bullseye is worth 4 — and the first team to 10 wins.

Good to know

Wavelength Online vs. the board game

The tabletop party game needs the physical dial, the screen, and a box on the table. Wavelength Online keeps the same core — a hidden target, one clue, a team guess, and a left-or-right bet — but replaces all the hardware with a single web page. There is no setup, no lost pieces, and a new spectrum every round.

It is not a replacement for game night so much as the version you reach for when the box is not around: at a restaurant, on a call, or when a group forms on the spot. Play Wavelength Online free, no download required.
